Cataract Screening
Cataracts are a common age-related condition that causes cloudy vision, faded colors, and glare from lights.
Those with high risk of cataracts are recommended to have routine screening every 6 months for early detection and treatment.
Cataract Screening is recommended for:
- The elderly. Aging is the leading cause of cataracts, comprising of more than 80% of patients with cataracts according to reputable studies
- Patients with underlying health conditions such as diabetes, uveitis, retinal damage, cardiovascular disease and high blood pressure.
- Those with regular exposure to sunlight and high-intensity artificial light such as spotlights, film lights, high-pressure lamps.
- People with history of administration of corticosteroids drugs, regular alcohol intake, and regular smoking
- Those with regular exposure to ionizing radiation, commonly used for X-rays and radiation therapy for cancer patients
- Those with history of eye trauma
