Glaucoma Management
Glaucoma is a group of eye conditions that can cause damage to the optic nerve and loss of visual field. It may manifest with symptoms such as eye pain, migraine, blurred vision but may also go with no obvious symptoms.
Many patients only know they have it when it has progressed seriously, with a low prognosis of treatment.
Japan Eye Center provides a glaucoma examination package with in-depth examination that aim to screen for disease risk and provide prompt treatment.
Those with glaucoma may experience:
- Occasional eye pains, headache, and vision that quickly switches from blurry to clear.
- These can progress to sudden intense eye pain that spreads from the top of the head, red eyes, heavy lashes, photophobia, watery eyes, blurred vision as through the mist, red-green halos when looking at lights, tight marble-like eyes
If these symptoms appear we recommend getting a check-up as soon as possible.
Who Are at High Risk of Glaucoma?
- Adults over 40 years old
- Those whose family has history of glaucoma
- Those with refractive errors such as: myopia over 4 diops, early presbyopia, and quickly progression presbyopia
- Those with systemic diseases such as high blood pressure, nocturnal blood pressure decline, mucosal spasm in coronary artery disease, Raynaud’s syndrome, cerebral circulation disorder, migraine, hyperlipidemia, diabetes, thyroid diseases
Glaucoma Treatment at Japan Eye Center
The main goal of glaucoma treatment is to prevent its progression so as not to damage to the optic nerve. While glaucoma cannot be completely reversed, most cases can be successfully controlled and managed with the proper treatment plan.
